Week 1 Shout-Outs

Just wanted to take a couple minutes to thank and give a shout out to all the bloggers, reviewers and fans who’ve been talking us up out there during our first week.

My personal favorite quote from a blogger so far comes from EMorton on G4’s Attack of the Show:

“Today’s app is called Animoto and it creates custom, fully produced videos from the images and music you select. It’s like tossing a bunch of steel, glass and leather into a box, shaking it up and then opening the box to find a brand new Ferrari.”

Be sure to click here to watch Attack of the Show’s feature of Animoto that aired last night.

Thanks to AOTS’s hosts Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn for the coverage! Although, it did mean another sleepless night for Stevie and Tom as they tried to handle the onslaught of passionate viewers from AOTS.

Also wanted to specifically thank the following bloggers for really getting deep into our site. I love seeing personal embedded Animoto videos on your blogs - keep it up!

  • Josh Catone on Read/WriteWeb - Josh, I think you win for being the first to cover us!
  • Eric Eldon from Venturebeat - Eric, it was nice to meet you in person in SF.
  • Harrison Hoffman from CNET - Harrison, I loved the title of your review. I just googled ‘Animoto’ and ‘Spielberg’ to see the impact of your story and at last count it reached 625 sites!
  • Robin Good - Robin, do you mind if we use this review as the basis for our functional spec doc and product roadmap doc? (it was that thorough and good)
  • Phil Butler - Phil, we hope your readers agree with your conclusion!

And my favorite comment from an Animoto user today was from Steven A: “Animoto is huge - HUGE! makes me sick its so good……….”

We’re working hard to get Animoto to a point where it fulfills our vision but if you can agree with Steven for now, just wait, things are going to get downright nasty on animoto.com!

  1. Animoto is ridiculous fun. Here are my thoughts:

    1) Offer a way to download & make our own as well as control over the customizations & effects.
    2) Offer a non-Animoto branded version for a fee that we can use as photographers to give our clients.

More control, more power! :) I loooooooooove it!

  2. thanks guys….this is great stuff, i ll pass on the word, would there be a paid-service too…where we can use your technolgoy and add our own logo on the right of the screen instead of animoto….for professional use & services? Anyhow i ll use it for to spice up my product range

  4. It makes me sick too … Too simple, too good, too fast, too much, too … everything !
@Matt: The good thing is precisely that you don’t waste your time in choosing which effect you want, and when you want it. That exactly why I love animoto : fast, simple.

  7. Amazing site! While I’m one of those people who can’t afford (or have method of buying) the pay stuff, I had fun trying out the free sample version and had a blast. If this were available on computers for personal use as a program, I could finally stop arguing with Windows Movie Maker!
