Google comes a-knocking!
So there we were a few weeks ago… completely reveling in the excitement of putting together our new office and building our first “real” desks (from Ikea, of course). Then a little company Google gets in touch and tells us they have “big plans”… and they want us be a part of it. I know, right?! Never thought anything could replace the excitement of brand new Ikea furniture so quickly. (Except Ikea cinnamon rolls, of course).
Today Google publicly announced they have joined forces with MySpace to launch OpenSocial, a set of common APIs for building social applications across various social networks that include Friendster, Bebo, LinkedIn, Hi5, Plaxo, and Google’s own Orkut. Together, they reach over 200 million users. And in their press release today, Google announced Animoto as one of their early featured application developers! Pretty exciting considering we’re a startup that’s just a couple months into our beta release.
Unfortunately, we can’t share with you yet any details of what we have in the works, but we promise to deliver something pretty sweet. We’re looking forward to being part of a collective effort to take platform apps to the next level.
To show our appreciation to everyone at Google involved in the decision to involve Animoto, we’ll be postponing our plans to acquire Google by about a year. We will also be sending Google an 8-pack of Ikea cinnamon rolls.
Don’t forget to warm them up in the microwave first. They’re to die for.

Congratulations, Animoto guys! I’m glad Google also thinks you’re the Next Big Thing ™. I know I’ve been telling all my friends (and my aunts, my customers, my wife’s cousins, and people I meet on the street) about your service.
Good on ya!
Congrats, Animoters!
Now, if only download button would work, I would brag about you even more to all my friends, neighbors, family, ferry men and innocent bystanders about your service
Great work guys, I just found you today and I have to say that you’ve developed something amazing. The potential of Animoto is unlimited, I can think of countless things to do with it. I hope you someday release an API I would love to tap in to this and muck about.
Excellent Good Luck to you.

Please let us know when you will allows us to download and save the movie clips we can create with Animoto…
I am also eager to get news from your team on a more regular basis.
Can’t wait for the full version of Animoto being released
Congratulation for all your good ideas…
Great news guys, for me animoto is the most amazing thing in net at this moment !
So well deserved guys. I love animoto to bits. I think my band might use it to make a music video
Cinnamon Rolls wicked!
Love what you’re saying and the site has great potential for sure. I wish this white on black was a bit easier to READ…for us old folks… I do see something HAPPENIG HERE and I want to be part of it – and share it with others. Thank You…
My prediction: Google acquires Animoto and implements their fantastic service into Picasa. Picasa have a somewhat sucky video generation tool now IMHO, so Animoto’s technology would turn everything around. We would also see Animoto implemented with Picasa Web Albums.
That’s really good news – looking forward to that happening real soon. But please don’t rest on your laurels just yet. I am enjoying my full membership but it will be fuller when I can download a local copy of my own videos…
Animoto is the greatest web thing! I have bought an all access account and did not regret it ever since. We all hope that Animoto’s development work will not be negatively influenced or even be paralyzed by Google’s investment
So keep on innovating!
I’d like to second that last comment by L5… Don’t let the big G swallow you up whole!!
We cannot express how excited we are here at GoldiRock Records for the blokes at animoto! There is something to be said for those of us that live the double lives of nerd / stars, although we treat “sleep deprivation” as though a drug of choice!
Seriously though, let’s make 2008 one of the most dynamic and intensely intuitive years to date for indie bands/labels, and artists! XOX, Animot – You have our hearts and minds . . . and memberships . . . No let’s all buy stock!
Rock on!

GOOD STUFF DUDES. I LOVE IT.
My wife learned about Animoto at a school in-service, told me about it when she got home, and I haven’t been off it yet. WAAAAYYYY COOL! Keep developing your idea. Any, keep working on that download feature, as I can’t seem to make it work.

Youz Guys are truly “Da Bomb.” Even old farts like me (51) can easily comprehend the program. Truly a technical breakthrough! Where do I invest?
Congratulations to everyone at Animoto! and good luck with your Google partnership and I’m sure wicked things will come of it!
I just had to post to say well done! (it’s obvious Gooogle thinks Animoto is as brilliant as the rest of us
)
