This month we’ve been working to improve our core features based on feedback from all of you, so thanks for sending us your thoughts!

You can now share & embed your videos in hi-res so that your audience views them in their full resolution. For instance, if you’ve upgraded a video to hi-res and then share it to Facebook, your friends can watch it in hi-res from within their feed.

Also, if you embed videos to your blog or web site, you can customize things like autostart, looping, and streaming resolution.

Animoto for Photography ad campaign: #7 of 10

So… when we started this whole campaign, we decided it was important to give each and every featured photographer full creative control over how they wanted to present themselves. This is, after all, basically their self-portrait. Let’s just say we never imagined how, uh, “interesting” some of our photographers interpretations of themselves could be.

We are very proud to present Doug Gordon with the honor of being Animoto’s “Mr. February.”

Doug Gordon is the owner of Patken Photography, a family-owned studio established in 1985. Patken Photography has a staff over 27, shoots over 1,000 weddings a year and operates out of three separate studios in the New York City area.

Doug also speaks at national and international photography conventions, and sells instructional videos via Doug Gordon Workshops. He encourages photographers to be true to themselves and to “put it all out there.” I think he does a great job of doing just that for this month’s ad.

In honor of this fantastically tongue-in-cheek ad, we’re running a “Caption this ad” contest on our Animoto Pro Facebook page. Doug has even been generous enough to donate his “Super Get Sexy Collection” on instructional DVDs, valued at $1100 to the winning caption.

Introducing high-resolution streaming

Nominated “Best Internet Application” of 2009

We just found out that Animoto was nominated by the Crunchies Awards for “Best Internet Application” of 2009! And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Animoto received a second nomination under the category of “Best Design.” Wow, awesome! What a completely amazing way to wrap up the year.

With fellow nominees like Yelp, Posterous, Dropbox and Google Chrome, we’re completely humbled. And truth be told… because we totally love those guys and bow down to them, we won’t feel too bad if we don’t win. =)

“The Crunchies, co-hosted by GigaOm, VentureBeat, and TechCrunch, is an annual competition and award ceremony that recognizes and celebrates the most compelling startups, internet and technology innovations of the year. The internet community is invited to choose who wins.”

Should you feel so inclined, vote for us. But only if you like Animoto. Not because you think we look handsome in tracksuits.

Voting ends Wed, Jan 6th. The Awards Ceremony will take place Friday, January 8th at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco.

Time for us do some laundry so we can try to look nice.
